Welcome to Sikh Welfare Society, where our mission is to uplift communities and foster well-being. We are committed to promoting physical health through medical support, including eye camps, medical camps, and cancer awareness and diagnostic camps in rural India. Our dedication extends to supporting charitable causes, with contributions to established and registered charities in the UK. Furthermore, we aim to enrich the understanding of the Sikh religion, enhancing awareness and knowledge particularly among young Sikhs, to nurture a well-informed future generation. About Sikh Welfare Society
A small group of like-minded, benevolent people, established at their monthly networking meeting that the group was capable for helping the needy, especially in their native homeland. This led to the formation of Sikh Welfare Society, (SWS) and this charitable organisation was officially launched in 2008. Its first charitable work was delivered in April 2009. Subsequently, SWS is registered with The Charity Commission for England & Wales, (Reg Charity No.1155444) and therefore it is a duly regulated organisation.
Mission and Achievements
In line with its primary objective of community service, the SWS has been delivering medical services in rural regions of Punjab and Haryana. In collaboration with local team of renowned specialists’ doctors and health care professionals, medical camps are organised annually, to restore eyesight of needy people by means of cataract surgeries, eye drops, post-surgery care, prescription glasses. Nonetheless, a range of other medical services are also provided, for example, cancer awareness and screening, Chest, Ear Nose and Throat, Dental, Diabetes, ECG & Heart, Gynecology, Neurology Orthopedics, and Skin problems. To date over 100,000 people have been examined for various health issues and over 10,000 cataract operations has been successfully performed. As usual, the charity will continue to arrange multiple medical camps every year. In UK, SWS also makes donations to NHS and other voluntary organisations. Education
In 2024, SWS has launched a new initiative to extend its support towards educational services, especially the welfare of underprivileged students in rural areas as well as the sponsorship of selective students, who exhibit academic potential, but their financial circumstances hinder the pursual of further education.
Fundraising
SWS has not authorised nor employed any third party to raise its funds. So far fundraising has been restricted to its members’ contribution and advertisement of local businesses.
Expenses
SWS being a voluntary and selfless organisation, therefore does not pay any wages or salaries to its trustees or members. Its members travelling abroad for the supervision and management of medical camps, fund their own travel and incidental expenses. Its funds are used, solely for helping the needy. Aims and Objectives
